It seems to take a while. This has been reported to be on the gridgammon facebook site:

Currently, there are many thousands of matches, both finished and unfinished, being stored on the servers. We are in the process of deleting many of these matches.

Some people will be happy to see them go, while others may want to save their matches. If you would like to have a backup, you should make a copy of your SaveGame folder.

New matches are not initializing yet, so players who have no unfinished matches cannot play. Matches can resume, so those players with unfinished matches can play. This hardly seems fair, I know - the opposite should be true!

There's a status update every 24 hours or so. Everyone who has made an inquiry through support has received an immediate response with the current information - just the facts as we know them which, of course, are never as exciting as Facebook... ;-)

That's all we have for now - we miss all of you too.

p.s. Once this work is done, resume-only will be implemented. Initially, 10 unfinished matches will activate resume-only status; within a few weeks, the limit will be 5 unfinished matches.
