That was what I was sort of thinking about the Calcutta. I'd be curious to know whether at that time, with more excitement around the game in general, there were people buying players in the Calcutta who weren't themselves playing in the tournaments. Back then, was this a way for non-players within the orbit of the backgammon scene to participate in the action?
