Memorizing backgammon positions

It seems to me like you've seriously altered your original statement and changed it into nothing to do with backgammon basically (except for the bg player) and made it a simple memory game. Even then, if you give me the same couple of months to (re)study the 3rd rolls (or if I choose, the nactation list) there is no memory expert that is going to be able to do any better than I am. I suspect that is true for quite a few backgammon players though certainly not all players and not all great backgammon players.

At first you had memory experts cleaning our clocks, and now you still, when referring to the third roll alone, call it a slam dunk for the memory experts. It just isn't, I don't know how else to put it. I'm not that bright but memorizing all the third rolls over a couple month span would be easily doable and again, I suspect many other bg players could also if so inclined.

If you included the 4th roll and your 'make it a memory competition' settings I expect you might get somewhere.
