I'd raise the flop with 3 people behind if I am going to play the hand. I understand the read of the initial bet but with 3 people behind calling with that hand isn't the right play I believe. You can isolate the initial guy with your read and thin the field allowing your turn bet to be more successful. Calling with the idea to fire at scary turn cards isn't the right idea with that many people behind you who will be calling with the draws you intend to represent.
