I don't like the idea that in the second bet, the total stake is determined after the fact. If that were corrected and an unbiased measure of skill were used, it would just be him betting that he can beat the bot at even odds (first bet) plus variance enlargement with expected value of zero (second bet). Seems like a good bet to take to me.
