SPEEDGAMMON -- PR RATINGS & MASTERSHIP AWARDS
A select consultancy comprising Grandmasters, BMAB Directors, major BG Federations and other players of the highest pedigree has recently been assembled to occasionally debate and vote on wider BMAB policy issues. The first topic for debate has been the implementation of a separate and parallel Rating and Grading system for Speedgammon matches. The following proposal received 65% of the votes and will be adopted:
SuperSpeedMaster (PR <= 3.0, EP >= 250)
GrandSpeedMaster Class 1 (PR <= 3.5, EP >= 200)
GrandSpeedMaster Class 2 (PR <= 4.0, EP >= 150)
GrandSpeedMaster Class 3 (PR <= 4.7, EP >= 100)
SpeedMaster Class 1 (PR <= 5.5, EP >= 100)
SpeedMaster Class 2 (PR <= 6.5, EP >= 100)
SpeedMaster Class 3 (PR <= 7.5, EP >= 100)
The experience points (EP) thresholds are in line with those for normal backgammon, but the PR thresholds have been relaxed by one class level. The following game clock settings will apply:
Bank Time: Less than or equal to 0.5 minutes per game point.
Delay time: Less than or equal to 10 seconds per move.
Only match lengths of 5 points or more are rateable. There is no restriction on the proportion of 5 point matches as there is for normal backgammon rating.
