Interesting position from London Pro Final

Bill R: I much prefer the requirement that if a player is to look at a second move he/she must first replace all checkers to the original position.
Agreed. Definitely.
Bill R: Some suggest offset checkers for those tentatively moved. Perhaps players should move checkers to the center of the playing surface -- not the bar -- for those tentatively hit.
I hate those, it never looks clean to me - I much, much prefer the first option. Aesthetics.
Bill R: Personally, I much prefer touch moves. If someone can't visualize simple one roll variances in positions they're probably playing the wrong game anyway.
Don't ever do this. I disagree so vehemently with touch move. I strongly believe (and I keep saying the same thing on this forum) that there is a significant benefit to seeing what a completed play looks like. I can visualize, sure, but seeing a position in my mind, I find is not the same as seeing it on the board! Far better benefit for me, for sure. Besides, shouldn't we be looking beyond one roll? I think so, and I try to do it..
NK's perspective on penalties for misplays - I tend to lean towards agreeing with this perspective, but I couldnt think up a penalty sequence that would be appropriate.
For sure, I dont want to try and recreate my opponents position that he/she fucked up - thats a strain on my brain to keep my opponent in line. Ridiculous. I often am not paying attention to what my opponent is doing, or looking at - I have much more important things to do - like take a count, figure out my cube actions next time, change my game plan, re-assess what kind of game is being played out, think about themes associated with those, maybe start preparing for a shot count / safety count, or look at what sequences I may have. Way too busy in my head to be paying attention to whatever my opponent is doing.
