Christian, without digging out all of the specific language, I'll give a brief synopsis.

It is not necessarily limited to Americans. So, one could be an international player or organizer that accomplished much in the States. Or, one could be an American that mostly played and/or contributed internationally.

The wording goes something like 'a significant body of work over an extended period of time'. But it is subjective. USBGF members may nominate anyone they feel satisfies these criteria in their minds and who is worthy of recognition.

The HOF Committee evaluates all of the nominees and recommends a ballot to the Board of Directors. The Board may accept the recommendation as is or may add or delete names from the ballot at their discretion. Generally, the Board will follow the Committee's recommendations.

The ballot then goes to the HOF electors -- this includes the members of the HOF, the BOD, and a select group of distinguished individuals in the game. The select group has become smaller as a number of that original group have been inducted. I think last year there were 31 or 32 electors. That may grow by 1 or so this year. An algorithm has been developed which determines the number of inductees each year based on the vote distribution from the electors ballots.
