Missed doubles and PR

I have found this interesting case where someone missed a double in a position with both players on the bar and the position repeated a few times hurting the PR. Some peppole said the error should count only once, others disagreed, not clear for me. My opinion is the equity lost can't be the sum because you are allowed to double to 2 only once in the game, without this rule should be but is another game. In a race positions are similar but also can happen in a game after a few rolls positions to be completely different.

So my thought is that the events "doubling next roll" are not independent so some adjustements are needed but don't know how, maybe based on the correlation between the two positions, of course too complex. Your thoughts ?
