USBGF -- Would Edmond Hoyle Esq be eligible for consideration?

In Response To: USBGF -- American Backgammon Hall of Fame -- Call for Nominations (Bill Riles)

Would Edmond Hoyle Esq (1672-1769) be eligible for being inducted in the USBGF Hall of Fame? His backgammon credentials are impeccable and, though British, during his life Americans and the British shared a common nationality.
