I posted something on Facebook, and now am posting something here.
One person that should be a slam dunk hardly gets a mention. I am speaking of Mike Svobodny. Consider ...
His outstanding tournament record over the past thirty plus years includes the World Championship, World Cup, and the Nordic Open; he's the only player to have won the Big Three. Of players not already inducted, he ranks with Billy Horan and Joe Sylvester, and ahead in quality, if not quantity, of Ray Fogerlund, Ed O'Laughlin, and me.
Yet Svobo is most famous as a money player. That used to be considered more important than tournament play. Certainly Svobo is among the elite players of all time, having won millions of dollars during his career. (Or so one hears from reliable sources.)
He hasn't made the Giant 32 the past few ballots, but was a perennial.
He has also organized some big money tournaments, and staked young players who themselves went on to contribute to the game.
The man is a legend; hard to imagine him not being inducted.
