OTB I would play 22/20 8/5 without thinking too much about it. But you have asked me to think about it so I put on my Quiz Factor hat (which is always dangerous).

Here goes. The split can be problematic since it opens you up to a lot of pointing rolls, although unless they are doubles you are going to have chances to either anchor or hit back on 18 or 17. Bottom is ahead in the race and his board is not yet too formidable so top will be inclined to attack if he can on the next roll.

Perhaps the better idea is to stay on 22 and build your board a bit more before venturing out. So 8/5 with the three looks obvious. Then what about the two? You could slot the 4, slot the 1, or just come in, unstacking 8 a bit more. I would slot the 4 since the covering 4s and 1s don't do much for you on top's side of the board.

So let's try 8/5 6/4. If this (or any of the non splitting plays) is correct it probably says something about the relative strength of holding the 22 pt. I have found that the 22 pt, as long as it is not blocked on 6s, is a stronger anchor than it first appears. Hence sitting on it is not as weak as it might look.

But, as I say, QF is very dangerous.
