Ken, we appreciate your review of the new rules. As you might imagine, considerable thought, discussion, experimentation, and testing went into this decision.
We think it important that individuals understand, and, ideally, play with the new rules prior to commenting on the new rules. The dissemination of misinterpretation is not constructive. Your statement is wrong.
As before, a die that is supported, to any degree, upon a perimeter wall of the board is cocked -- be it otherwise supported by the playing surface or by a checker. Absolutely nothing has changed in this regard.
As before, a die suspended within the interstitial crevice between checkers is cocked. A die supported at an angle by the playing service within an interstitial crevice between checkers is cocked. Absolutely nothing has changed in this regard.
A die sitting upon a checker, including a dimpled checker or a checker with a metal rim or edge, is deemed flat and a roll including one or both dice upon a checker is valid.
