USBGF Rules - Valid roll issue

I would like to provide some input on this issue.
About a year ago I started playing matches with someone that uses the following rules: dice can land on either side of the board, dice can land on checkers. He said he had always played that way so I, very reluctantly, agreed to try it. After playing this gentleman over 200 matches in the last year, we have had exactly 1 roll where it was similar to one of the pictures you show. We have had many 100's of rolls where we saved time, not needing to re-roll. We have used dimpled checkers and non-dimpled checkers and there has never been as issue. I was opposed to this before I tried it, but am now convinced it is a good rule and is the best way to equalize the clock disadvantages that can occur with direction(the other methods are cumbersome and slow down play), as well as a good way speed up play in general.
Before condemning something because it is new and you can envision potential problems, I suggest you try it first, you may come to like it.
This rule was not passed without it being tested at a tournament. There was very little pushback from the players and many liked it.
