For mathematical puzzles, I generally refrain from giving the "rollout" right away, and in fact I often avoid such threads altogether.

This puzzle is a philosophical one, and I didn't think that giving a pointer to the literature "spoiled" anything since papers continue to be published on the topic. I thought it would just raise the level of the discussion.
