European Championships - Team and Individual

European Championship in Denmark from October 20th to 23rd 2016!

This week the European Championship will take place in wonderful Helsingør/Elsinore north of Copenhagen. It is the 3rd European Championship for national teams held alongside the 1st Individual European Championship, initiated by EUBgF(European Backgammon Federation). Host is the Danish Backgammon Federation.

Thursday and Friday six rounds of qualification will be played and livestreamed to find the final 4 of the 15 national teams that will play the semifinals. Teammatches will be played 4 by four players.

On Saturday the qualification for the individual players will take place. At the moment more than 100 individual players have signed up. Sunday is the final day for both tournaments.

The YouTube channel for The Danish Backgammon Federation (‘Dansk Backgammon Forbund’) will broadcast these matches. In order to promote the game in Denmark and also on the website of the sponsor, ‘Danske Spil’, the broadcast will be produced and commentated in Danish. Daniel Schleisner-Meyer will produce the live stream and Hans Kristian Mathiesen will give his best to comment the cube decisions and moves of the European players.

THURSDAY 20TH OCTOBER: 12:30-23:00 SWISS ROUND 1-3 TEAM

FRIDAY 21ST OCTOBER: 10:00-19:00 SWISS ROUND 4-6 TEAM

SUNDAY 23RD OCTOBER: 12:00-15:00 SEMIFINALS TEAM 15:00-18:00 FINAL AND 3RD PLACE TEAM
