Key question here: Is the bar point alone better than the 10 and 3 together? The answer is clearly that the 10-3 combination is superior. Points are good, and two new points are most often better than one. Your opponent has a stronger board, two points made to your one, and the 3 point gives you a two-point board, using two checkers from the heavy 6 point (positional bonus). The 10 point obviously has value, too.
