The third position is extremely interesting--there are many factors in play. Did you roll out bar/22 8/5(2) 6/3 (using same concept as the best play, but choosing the 5 point over the 3 point, "for more lasting value" as the thinking might go)? As for that choice, I do like the 3 point better; a 5-point blot is more easily coverable than a blot on the 3, and it's easier to slash at an opposing blot on the 5 point. For those and other reasons, 22 3(2) 5 is a more threatening diversionary play than 22 5(2) 3.

Over the board I think I would have played bar/22 24/21 6/3(2), or maybe 8/5(2) instead of 6/3(2).
