Play some ducks

I would make the same play. We're behind in the race but I don't think the contact we desire is going to come from keeping a deep anchor; we should be harassing White's two blots. It would be bad for us if White were to make her 4pt so we should take this silver opportunity to grab the silver anchor.

If we advance the anchor then 4/2*(2) seems natural as a tempo hit, to preserve our double shot on the other blot. The totally safe 15/13 6/4 is hopelessly passive and gives White a much better chance to consolidate.

I don't think that I would double after a dance, at least not for money. At 6a7a, we have extra incentive to double in a gammonish position but less incentive to double if the opponent is going to have many chances to recube to 4. Because of White's strong board I think that our gammons are not particularly high and her recube vig is pretty good, so I would be even less inclined to double after a dance ATS than for money. It would be interesting to see if I have this right.

What alternatives are there? If we don't advance the anchor then 15/7* is the only play that appeals to me. It does duplicate White's 5's to enter and hit back, and it keeps the 4pt. The trouble is that our deep anchor is still a major liability. I think we have to advance the anchor.
