Without trying to 'outdo' you, I *won* a very similar position (badly timed 1-3 backgame) in a straight race just last week in a live match. I was in the 50-60 pip deficit region, but threw about 5 big doubles (55 or 66) in 6 rolls to win on the last roll, on an 8cube DMP. I told my very gracious opponent (Radu Ciortan) that "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You're a strong man". My online record was from 56 pips down, acepoint game with a man still on the bar.
