For what it is worth, I did a play from here session this morning, 36 games (actually only the 12 of them in which I hit), did a full 3-ply RO for every disagreement I had with 3-ply and got a "Wow!" in 11 of the 12 games, some of them huge. In my worst game, I had PR 0.09 (error compared to XG 3-ply). My variance reduced GWC was around 2% (6% of the games in which I hit), which is more than XGR+ (huge) achieved in my earlier rollout, but really too close to call with that small number of games. In the bearoff against contact, XG 3-ply is clearly better than I am, but it is outrageously bad at reaching that stage in the first place. There is no way I can believe that any decent human player has less equity than XG 3-ply in your position.
