Rest in peace, Martin Birkhahn

Yesterday, we received the sad and shocking news that Martin Birkhahn, former member of The Dilly Builders and a well-known player online and in countless tournaments in Germany and Europe, has passed away at the age of 47. Martin was well liked by everyone for being a formidable gentleman at and off the board and for his sharp wit. He was also a very diligent lifelong student of the game. Never have I met anyone who was able to recall as many MET entries as accurately as him, nor have I ever personally witnessed a faster pip-counter.

I cannot really believe it yet. Just three months ago, Martin was quite optimistic regarding his health and we planned our trip to the now upcoming Gibraltar tournament, where we would have roomed together as so often before. Dear Martin, you will be missed!
