Help with cube decision please

That happened in our doubles match yesterday. At 5away/5away we redoubled to 8. We all know that the take point is 15.8, but none of us at the table knew how to calculate whether the taker has that much or not.

1. Would you take or pass?

2. Do you have a method to estimate winning chances here or is your decision based on references and gut feel?
