I will give this one a shot.

Having glanced at the other thread, I know that most situations call for 6/4(2), and that some situations call for 8/7(3), 6/5. In this situation with the race very close, I think reducing blue's chances for escape, and gaining any little advantage in the race is a priority.

However, blue doesn't have much blocking power here, and making the 4 point doesn't help much in that regard. Blue still escapes with 45, 65, 63, 44 and 66, 8 escaping numbers.

If white makes the 7 point, blue still has 7 escaping numbers. (55 is blocked by the 13 point).

Hitting 5/3*(2) leaves blue with 55 as the only escaping number, and gives white a few more pips in the race. With a few lucky rolls, white might be able to gain a stronger advantage in the next few exchanges.
