They ARE rewarded. They win prize money as they win earlier tournaments.

And there is their further reward.

> 3. If you seed players, it is more likely that top players will meet in the semis and finals, and again, that is fair

Why is that fair to the other players?

As to exciting finals, that is certainly true. But most of the other players don't even stick around for the finals! That doesn't apply to streamed matches, but if we want people to attend matches instead of watching them for free, we need to treat players better than streamers.
