"Nobody but you is claiming that the bots are the heroes of backgammon".

Mockey, Mickey, Stickey, etc. all want to grow up to play like GNUBG and XG someday, don't they?

Understandably, outside of a handful gamblers community, not to many other people want to idolize robots or other people who idolize robots, because traditionally in novels, movies, etc. robots are often alien, evil things that turn against their creators and want to destroy them (except a few good or goofy ones like in Star Wars :)

In the end, people want "human heroes" to win. Regardless of what age they are, I believe that the child inside people will never want to grow up to be a robot.

"If you have a superior method that can be shown to be applicable to real world tournament situations, either use it yourself and become a world champion or market it and make some money revolutionizing backgammon theory."

1- I don't need to have a superior method myself personally in order to comment about it. (Have you even looked at the RGB articles and website links that I had provided?)

2- I don't know why a "superior method" against bots wouldn't be applicable to real world tournament situations, as long as those same humans will keep trying to play like the bots. If they start adjusting their play to make strategic/high-PR moves in order to counter a "superior method", they may do better but only at the expense of incurring high error rates and thus proving the "bot style" play inferior).

3- I have no ambitions of becoming world champion and/or makin a lot of money but I sure wouldn't mind if I could "revolutionize backgammon theory", which I may not be able to do myself but that doesn't bar me from theorizing along with other people and/or commenting on the subject.
