Annotations of matches are wonderful if done by very skilled teachers who can state the key points well and succinctly. Also, done verbally, in video format, is much preferred by most of us...hearing the expert talk about the play or cube and explaining why, showing variations, and having someone like me ask questions or make sure they don't gloss over terms and things others might not know, is helpful.

These annotated matches are pretty much only of interest to serious players. I don't think this is a way to make the game more exciting and interesting for the general public or lower-level players.

However, Joe makes a great point about making streaming more interesting if the viewer could see and hear why certain plays are being made. This requires the ability to record and pause the actual game play, and it is more of a teaching session than watching a match.

When watching an exciting match, say a finals between to Giants, I think Joe would agree that having expert commentary to make it interesting and fun and pointing out the highlights, along with the ability to show what XG thinks of the play, for the benefit of the audience and the commentators, is a great plus.

I have offered many other suggestions on how to make streaming and videos more fun and exciting, but I don't want us to get lost in the details or get into big debates about using electronic dice vs. real dice, or showing XG or not, or stopping the action to give explanations or not. I would rather get our community to agree that we need to do something and start trying new and different things and see what works...what gets the most viewers and the most hits. What interests and excites the casual players to watch a streamed match of video. It may be that casual players will never want to watch streamed matches (in their current format) and the only way to attract them is with special exhibitions and a different format and/or videos.

Again, I think we all agree we can do more to make streaming better for all; and we can do more to attract more new players using streaming and youtube and social media etc. Let's start doing it.
