Hi!

That feature is half a year old or so. It is starting to work reasonably well with a few matches played every day. The current highscore 73 matches in one day:

Not a lot compared to other play sites but I'm sure it will grow.

Yesterday was a bit hectic with a lot of users logged in and a lot of matches going on (relatively speaking!). And I got 2 serious problems to deal with on top of it. One was a blinking page in Firefox which was "solved" by using Chrome instead. The root cause of this is still unknown and will require a bit of work to get to the bottom of. It seems like some performance problem with Firefox which I don't think will be easy to find a way around. Identifying exactly what Firefox can't handle very well and then find a way around that problem could take some time.

Another was even worse with a couple of users not able to move their checkers when playing online matches. Thomas Kokholm suggested that it may be a setting which was the clue here. It turned out that if you didn't use 'enable manual input' which is what is used when playing matches it quickly fell apart. It has now been fixed.

And now there is a new trick! You can observe matches! Suggested by ericg and others and something that I have had on my list for some time but hadn't gotten around to implementing. It was working fine in my internal testing but I suspect there could be a bug or two left in that stuff when faced with more heavy usage on the live server.

Now all I need is to do is to convince a couple of Backgammon Giants to play a match on my server and I can get my popcorn ready and enjoy the show! :-) Actually there are a couple of very strong players there already and I just watched a match where both played below 3. Fun to watch! :-)

And a truckload of other improvements! But I am getting ahead of myself and I should wait for the next release to spill all the beans! :-)

You can also follow what is going on at Backgammon Studio on a daily basis by joining my facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1717451318498090/

Worth a try! :-)

Best regards,
TP
