Let me summarize. Jack is going into detail reminiscent of Lenny Bruce's late career performances in which Bruce describes at great length his encounters with the police and subsequent obscenity trials. Like Bruce's audience, nobody hearing it really gave a shit. Unlike Bruce, however, Jack is talking about a case in which he really has no standing. (For our Southern friends, he really has no dog in this hunt, or as another regular poster here {unnamed} might put it, "This eagle sang a sad song for the dead newt").

Oh, and he keeps referring to himself in the third person. I admit I have mixed feelings about just which of those two things is creepier.
