In Response To: New Laptop? (Nack Ballard)

Thanks, Karol and Neil, for your second-round responses.

In the absence of further input (which is welcome), I've narrowed down my choice to two candidates:

(1) Here's the expensive one. (Additional details)

HP Omen 17-W033DX 17.3 IPS UWVA anti-glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080) FHD Laptop, non-touch? $1203 free ship
Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz upto 3.5Ghz, 12GB DDR4 (Flash 8 GB NAND), 1TB SATA Quadcore (two reviews, 3.5 4.5)
Hard drive 1000 GB flash memory solid state 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA SSHD, geforce gtx 965m, Intel 4
Graphics card: NVIDIAŽ GeForceŽ GTX 965M (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated). 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA SSHD
Windows 10 Home 64, one USB 2.0 port (ugh?), SuperMulti DVD burner, 802.11ac (2x2) and Bluetooth 4.0 combo
Integrated 10/100/1000 GbE LAN, 2 USB 3.0; 1 USB 2.0; 1 HDMI; 1 RJ-45; 1 headphone/microphone combo, 2 spkrs

(2) Here's the cheap one. (Additional details)

HP Pavilion 17t Laptop PC, 17.3" FHD Screen, NON-touch screen, Windows 10 (silver) $820 free ship
Intel QuadCore i7-6700HQ 2.60 GHz 6MB L3 Cache, 16GB DDR3L 1600 MHz Memory, 1TB 5400 RPM HDD Hard Drive
Intel HD Graphics 530, SuperMulti DVD burner, Intel 802.11acW, Bluetooth
2 speakers w dgtl micro, Webcam, WLED-backlit keyboard (1920 x 1080)

Neither models are touch screen. Both have the i7-6700HQ chip that Neil recommends. The only material difference I see between the two is that the first one has SSD instead of HDD, and I'm not sure whether I want to pay an extra $383 (= 46%) for that. (Is that price difference typical?)

The $820 model is also being offered for only $362(!) free shipping, identified as "Used -- Like New, Never used -- contact me before ordering" and gives an e-mail address. The seller profile looks okay to me (his five top-selling products are listed in the range of $400 to $700). I have no experience ordering computers online. Should I follow up on this, and what are my risks? (Anecdotes are welcome.)

Thanks,

Nack
