Men v. Women in Mental Games

There are plenty of studies on the differences in men and woman's brains...I'm not taking the time to post any here right now...and there are differences. This doesn't necessarily make one better at a game like poker, chess, or backgammon, but I think they both have different strengths and weaknesses. I'm not really a fan of having separate events for woman in "brain games". I understand when it comes to physical sports. I feel the main reason they exist is because of the lower participation of women in most of these games. You might not see them as much on the leader boards because of their smaller numbers, so a separate woman's event will showcase the woman who do play. Also they might encourage woman who want to play but are intimidated by playing a field mostly dominated by men to come out and play.
As for having a "Best Female Player of the Year Award", to me this just another thing keeping woman from being equal to men. Sure men are going to win a player of the year award more often if they greatly out number the woman participating, but each woman should have just as good of a chance of winning it as any man. If I was a woman, I wouldn't want a woman's only award for something I thought I was an equal with as a man. It's seems especially condescending since there's a woman's only award and not a men's only award.
Sorry this message probably seems pretty disjointed...I was typing it on the fly at work.
