There are exceptions, of course. Hou Yifan may be a sort of female Bobby Fischer, who does little else besides play chess as far as I know, and like Fischer, has been known to believe in conspiracies and respond with weird and inexplicable self-sabotaging behavior.

Maybe that's a requirement to make chess's top level and women are less likely to be delusional.
