Creative ideas wanted for Beginner's Tournament

I have several favorites for beginners, depending on their level, and you might do a combination.
First, I love to have them play what I call RaceGammon.
Simply put all of each players checkers in the outfield, equal pips, and race to see who gets their checkers off first.
This is how I teach young children, particularly.
Then, I like Hypergammon for beginners. Each player starts with 3 checkers on his 24 point and you play with the normal rules of the game, without the cube, and the first one to get all three checkers off wins. They learn about hitting and pointing and playing safely etc.
Third, play DMP games...best 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 5, no cube.
After a break, have them all come in to a private room and give them a lesson on the doubling cube (I will be happy to volunteer if you like).
Then play 3 point matches with the cube.
BE SURE to give every novice play a good, simmple set of rules (I can provide if you like), and also a diagram showing how to set up the board and the direction of play that they can keep in front of them. (again, I have these if you want copies let me know).
