There are two options, making the 3pt or bringing both off of the midpoint. Making the bar point should be tossed out the window immediately. Normally you love the bar point when bringing your game home in a holding game but with the opponent having two anchors, one deep, you aren't really blocking anything. What you are doing is creating another point that needs to be cleared and is not easy to clear.

I should mention that 13/6 isn't an option either because having your checkers 6 away from the 6pt instead of 7 away allows you to bring them home easier so both off the midpoint is clearly superior to 13/6.

The opponent's home board must be taken into account. While it is blotted it is also already a pretty damn strong board and we wouldn't like getting hit. Looking at the overall position our opponent has very little timing and if we are able to play safe for even a turn or two he will be forced into a sort of zugzwang situation where he'd likely rather pass his turn than be forced to roll and move something.

As pretty as the 3pt is and as much as I'd like to fill in that point I think the board strength and timing considerations are the overwhelming factors. This is a rare instance where my one second play (making the 3pt) would have changed having the time to analyze the position.
