Cherry Blossom Championship -- Thanks!!

Thanks to all who played in the Cherry Blossom -- great turnout of 137 Main event entrants including filling Open with 64 entrants, Advanced with 50, and 23 in the Novice division!! Appreciation to Mochy and Akiko for coming from Japan and Tobias Hellwag and Michael Urban from Germany, as well as a good contingent who drove from Canada. The Novices particularly enjoyed their dinner with Mochy and his responsiveness to questions. Thanks to Akiko and Steve Sax for a terrific teaching match which was streamed (thanks Michelle!) and will be available soon. Congratulations to all the winners including Joe Russell who won the ABT Championship (and a beautiful P-40 board), Steve Sax who won the Cherry Blossom Jackpot, Liam Henry who won the Advanced division (and a custom-designed USBGF Crisloid board). And special thanks to everyone who helped make it a success -- director Bill Riles assisted by Barry Silliman, Jason Lee who ran the Novice division (with 23 entrants!!!), Robin Horton who handled the side events, Jeb Horton who ran the BMAB-USA #5, Paul Horton who assisted, Andy Lindeberg superb job streaming two matches at all times, Michelle Steinberg who provided great technical assistance with the streaming, Patty Knapp and Jason Lee who did an amazing job posting all the events on bgbrackets.com as they happened. Linda Donaldson and Julius High helped immensely making sure everyone had a great time! Marcy Kossar who organized a charity silent auction raising over $2000 for the US Backgammon Foundation educational activities. P-40 sponsorship was greatly appreciated as well as DC-area backgammon sponsors and USBGF added money! We got great feedback and already have a list of ways to make it even better! We have a lost and found list so let me know if you're missing glasses, a jacket, dice cup, etc. See you in another year!!
