If you let white play, white will consolidate or make a good blocking point. So you need to grab the tempi you can - I agree with that. But don't think about a backgame here - with the made acepoint, you don't want to play a backgame if you can avoid it. If hit back after the double hit, you mainly try to avoid losing a gammon.
