Has anyone tried the free Microsoft Office substitute, "LibreOffice"?
I'm taking this to be an independent question from your other one.
I've used LibreOffice to some extent. It works fine for the following:
1. Creating a simple document, saving it in Microsoft Office format, and sending it to someone who uses Microsoft Office.
2. Opening most Microsoft Office documents to view the content.
Some limitations are:
A. It doesn't have some of the advanced features of Microsoft Office.
B. If you open up a document that was created using Microsoft Office, there will often be formatting problems, ranging from mildly annoying to severe, especially for PowerPoint.
This is not really LibreOffice's fault because Microsoft intentionally makes it hard to exactly duplicate the functionality of their software.
