Why just talk about it...let's do something about it

It is quite impressive what was done at this event in many ways. And other tournaments have done impressive things in other ways, like getting a text telling you when your next match is ready and what table to go to, etc. etc.
We all agree these innovations make the game better for people at the event and for people watching streaming and updates. So why doesn't this happen more? The reason is obvious.
If every individual tournament has to reinvent the wheel and come up with the technology, equipment, and people to make it happen every time, it is simply too expensive to replicate for every event.
The answer is to develop the technology and either license or rent it out to the entire world to use. That must either be done by an individual who is willing to invest the time and money to do it, and then he must charge enough to make a profit (which many resent, when anyone tries to make a profit for his efforts), or an organization that has a vested interest in improving and promoting the game must do it.
This is just one more reason why an International Federation is needed (in addition to setting common rules of play, ethical standards, ratings, scheduling, and "protection" for the players relative to standards and money).
Only an International Federation can afford to develop the technology and equipment that can be licensed, loaned, or leased to accredited tournaments, and the cost can be absorbed by all of us contributing to the overall expansion and promotion of the game through our memberships, by a rake from tournament entries, and from donations and sponsors.
Trying to get every tournament director to develop high quality events that incorporate the things we are seeing at the best tournaments around the world just won't cut it.
So, when enough of us start "complaining" and "recommending" that the federations unite, and that we all support globalization of the game and a concerted, international effort to improve our tournaments and to truly market the game to grow it, as we have NEVER effectively done or even attempted to do, that is the first step toward making it happen.
If you agree, speak up. Talk to your federation leaders and if you are a federation leader, please consider taking action to take our game to the next level.
(If you don't agree, I'd love to hear opposing arguments. I haven't heard a good one yet.)
