I agree that not getting hit is the priority, but making the 5pt now doesn't leave any blots. It's future blotting danger that matters. I think what will make a bigger difference than fiddling with White's board is fiddling with the positions of Blue's spares. In the current position, Blue's spare distribution after making the 5pt is almost maximally imbalanced, given the points he has.
