Bear-In Problem

In the following position I played 9/2. My thinking was that this would cover my blot in my inner board, complete the full prime giving me plenty of time to get my other checkers around, and giving the opponent only one point from which to attack if/when I had to leave a blot while bearing off. Yet gnubg called this play a blunder (I haven't had the chance to roll this out with good settings). During play lately I've noticed other situations where my bear-in technique has, according to gnubg, been less than optimal though I'm having a hard time figuring that out. But understanding this play will hopefully get me on the right track. By leaving the blot on the 2pt do I want my opponent to hit? Or is there some other consideration I'm missing?
