Phil,

All good points but, as usual, I don't think you appreciate the full picture.

Doubtlessly, more and different things might be tried.

I don't necessarily agree with everything the USBGF is doing but, nonetheless, novices currently get one year free memberships, they get gift books, usually they get some added money to their event, they get a lot of attention. What more is the USBGF supposed to do? -- pay them to come?

I don't think an occasional loss leader by Phil to set them up for future milking is really the correct avenue either.

I'm all for new and great ideas. But the focus should be the new players, not Phil, not necessarily the USBGF. It should be them, not us.

Promote the game. Not the organization, not the money, not the 'teacher'.
