Isn't it because in the iterate case, if you choose either the 0 or 6, your odds of survival are a constant 50% since everything is decided on the first shot. You could have said that you were going to pull the trigger six times, and it was still going to be 50/50 whether or not you survived. But if you pick the gun with three bullets, your chances of survival go down with each addition pull.
