Testing Your Chouette Action

I am sure you can make a strong case for passing Stick in this case, but I will make a stronger case for beavering. The truth is I have been in this kind of situation many, many times. I must punish you for doubling early to stop you from undermining my advantage in the box so that you won't do it next time. It's not just about what happens this game...it's about teaching you a lesson.
And it is a lesson you need to learn, because if you and I are the two best players in the chou and you do this to me, then I am obligated to do the same to you when you are in the box, and the end result is WE BOTH LOSE on the deal.
Or, what happens if we play it your way? I pass you and you pass me and everyone else in the chouette will pass on playing with either one of us because in effect, it is collusion where we are clearly rubbing it in their faces that we think they are so much worse than we are and we are clearly giving money back and forth to each other that it pisses people off no end.
A really fair and honest and proper chouette should have no consulting, ever. Malcolm and I have agreed on that for years. That way everyone gets their chance to play backgammon and not just be a robot for the better player in the game, and people win and lose mostly on their own skill.
Yes, there are people who say when you eliminate consulting you take away the fun, social aspects of the game. I maintain that more people get pissed off and leave the game because of the insults thrown back and forth during these arguments over the play. By the way, I once did a study and found that without consulting (we did it for a while in Chicago) you play about 40 percent more games.
There should also be equal action on the cubes so you can't pick on just the bad players and beat them up and you can't have that collusion between the better players to take turns giving each other gifts while feeding on the minnows.
So you can do all the math you want to about the logic of dropping the shark and playing the minnows, and of course, on close decisions that is an excellent strategy; but in cases like this, I will beaver your ass before the cube hits the table.
