Clock and wrong match length

Good point about the need to deal with clock adjustments. Certainly, it is straightforward to add 2 minutes per point if the correct match is longer. Not so straightforward in the reverse. The director may need to assess the situation and make a fair resolution, which could include leaving the clocks alone if the tournament schedule permits.

In general, many such clarifications will be left to the Ruling Guide. There is a balance to be struck between the ease of digestion to the average player/director of a small rules document, and the additional clarity that a long document can offer. We have attempted to strike that balance such that if something can be inferred from the shorter text, we don't explicitly state it, even if the inference is not immediately obvious to all on an initial reading. The explicit clarifications and discussions of various scenarios can be expounded as needed in the Ruling Guide so that if there is any uncertainty remaining from the base Rules, it is available for reference.
