Lipped cups are not dice randomisers: they are merely random dice facilitators; otherwise, there would be no requirement to shake the dice, and "vigorously" at that (whatever that means).
One could argue, therefore (which you have), that to also require a cup with the baffle box implies that the latter is not a dice randomiser.
A good baffle box is a virtual random dice generator. I say virtual because, in theory at least, true randomness can only be approached, never actually attained. In practice, of course, you want to be 'close enough' (to true randomness). I accept that, with a good baffle box, cups should make only a negligible difference in the approach to randomness. So it is arguable whether they should also be required. But an opponent might not be convinced of a particular baffle boxes' effectiveness, so - particularly with Baffle Box Preference - Cup Preference should also apply.
It is certainly true that, with Baffle Box Option, Cup Preference does not really apply, as the player consenting to the use of the box can change their mind if the opponent required cups as well.
Though I would slightly prefer that, if you were playing me, you used a cup with the box, the reason has little to do with randomness. I like to use a cup with the box but, when a match is clocked as well, it puts a player at a slight disadvantage if they roll from a cup when their opponent does not. (More so, of course if, like me, they also prefer to shake the dice.)
I nonetheless applaud your stance, and would still be happily playing in tournaments if everyone else took it. The reality (for me) is that 30% of players flat decline to use a box, and most of those have poor shaking habits. This, combined with needlessly vague rules on what constitutes a valid shake and roll, means Baffle Box Option is not for this player.
