Use a touch screen. Yeah, I remember your comments. But it's WAY faster. Type the rolls with one hand and tap the checkers/cube with the other. Since I started using my Surface Pro, I'm up to running 2.4x to 2.7x video speed, and I can usually keep up. I slow down to 1.7 to 2.0 for bear offs.

If at all possible, avoid transcribing from YouTube. You want the video on your local drive, and use VLC, or something similar.

If you have your score sheet, always check the result of the game you are starting. Then, when the cube comes, you know if it's a take or pass and can put that in and fast-forward. All of Ben's tips are good, but note that you have to pick up the dice before you can turn the cube. I prefer to just pick them up every time. It's quick using a touch screen.

Also, don't forget these XG shortcuts:

  • If the play is to make a point, double-tap the point being made (does not work for doubles)
  • If bearing off 2 checkers, double-tap the checker tray (does not for doubles and, oddly, if you have exactly 2 checker on your top point and roll that number plus a higher number)
  • If screen space is limited, be sure to hide the moves panel

    Phil's suggestion to pay someone to do it is also good. ;-)
