Above I offer a variant you might want to share with your friends at rgb. Blue's 9pt blot is nudged back to his 10pt; everything else is the same.

That does clarify things a bit. In that position, it's obvious to safety the blot on the nine and then put a spare on the five.

In the original position, I didn't see the value in having a second spare on the five and looked for something more productive to do with the ace. Anchoring seemed best.

There aren't many of us left at rgb, and I think all of us read this site too, so I'll just post a link.
