7 points does seem short, but this is a 2 day tournament where they are trying to close the playing room by 12a Saturday and have the finals at 10a the next day. For this to happen they have to shorten the match lengths all around. The only other option is to have people play late Saturday or Sunday, which I know most players do not approve of due to sleep and travel needs.
