Comparable situation

Let's say a player is

  1. Down to 3 seconds reserve, and
  2. has [a gin position], and
  3. opp does not concede, and
  4. player cocks the dice 3 times in a row and times out.

How often does this happen? (Does it ever happen?)

The reason opp hasn't conceded yet is because it is not obvious to him that the position is gin. The easiest way to tell if a position is gin is simply to take another roll or two. Why go through the process of: "If I take two checkers off, and you take four checkers off, and I take two more off, and you take four more off, and I take my last two off, ..."?

Simple rules usually work better.
