It sounds like you ruled properly. I personally like to verbally state "drop" or "take" before I do any handling of the cube just to take any ambiguity out of my cube handling actions. But even then, I will deliberately move the cube either to my side of the board or to the center...and place it on a number other then what it would have been taken at. There is no need to play with the cube while you make a decision. I don't know this player, but it sounds like the was angle shooting....looking for some type of reaction from Brent.
